About the founder
Born in Boynton Beach, Florida, and raised between South Florida and St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Nikolas Filippini developed a lifelong connection to the sea from an early age. Beginning his hands-on training at just twelve years old under certified marine technicians, he cultivated deep expertise in vessel systems, mechanical operations, and marine craftsmanship.
By eighteen, he earned his U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s License, and by twenty-two was operating a successful private charter company in the Caribbean, managing a fleet of ten vessels. His specialty in curated fishing expeditions, island voyages, and extended private charters built a reputation for professionalism, precision, and elevated client experiences.
Following Hurricane Irma, he returned to South Florida and founded Island Tuff Marine, bringing with him a wealth of offshore experience and operational leadership. Today, Island Tuff Marine operates as a full-service private yacht management company, delivering meticulous oversight, technical excellence, and concierge-level service to discerning yacht owners.
In addition to vessel management, he mentors captains in both mechanical proficiency and refined client service, ensuring every yacht under his care reflects the highest standards of professionalism and performance.
