Our Origin
Island Tuff Marine was founded in 2017 by a Caribbean native who grew up immersed in the world of yachts, charters, and open water. Raised in the Virgin Islands with lifelong maritime experience spanning the full breadth of Caribbean charter operations — from offshore fishing and spearfishing to scuba diving, water sports instruction, and custom Caribbean voyages — our founder built this company on one unwavering conviction: yacht ownership should be effortless.
That foundation of authentic Caribbean maritime culture, combined with years operating professionally throughout the islands and East Coast, informs everything we do. We don't just manage vessels — we care for them as our own, bringing an owner's mindset and a professional's discipline to every engagement.

We are owner-operated, which means the accountability and care you experience comes directly from those who built this company.
Serving South Florida — with operations centered in Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and Palm Beach — as well as the full U.S. East Coast, we provide the same standard of excellence whether your yacht is in home waters or making a passage to the Bahamas.
The Founder
Born in Boynton Beach and raised between South Florida and St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Nikolas Filippini developed a lifelong connection to the sea from an early age.
Beginning his hands-on training at just twelve years old under certified marine technicians, Nikolas built deep expertise in vessel systems, mechanical operations, and marine craftsmanship. By eighteen he earned his U.S. Coast Guard Captain's License, and by twenty-two he was operating a successful private charter company in the Caribbean, managing a fleet of ten vessels.
Following Hurricane Irma, he returned to South Florida and founded Island Tuff Marine, bringing offshore experience, operational leadership, and concierge-level service to discerning yacht owners.
Nikolas personally oversees every captain and crew member to make sure each client is taken care of his way. He personally reviews each boat, checks that standards are met, and holds every detail to the same standard he expects on his own vessel. In his words: "I run a tight ship."

Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers — the international standard for maritime safety training, required for all professional crew operating on vessels worldwide.
Current First Aid and CPR certifications held by all key crew. When you're at sea, readiness for any emergency is non-negotiable — and we take that responsibility with absolute seriousness.
